Firefox on Windows Mobile, Not too far..
It's been over a year when Mozilla started working on a Windows Mobile version of their excellent browser Firefox, codenamed it as Minimo. Now minimo is changed to fennec and they've progressed a lot, hoping to join the war of the browsers on Pocket PC.
Touch Browser for Pocket PC
Opera mini got a hack recently so it can be launched directly from messaging and other applications. NetFront announced their Concept version available for public (over here). Opera is still fixing up their 8.65 Beta version. Now Makayama (never heard about them before) is entering the browser wars, highlighting Touch based page scroll and huge keyboard. Only commercial, no trial version is available at the moment and we haven't tested on our hands yet. But they have a working video published on their site. If you're not satisfied with NetFront (our best choice) and don't mind dishing out 15 bucks, go ahead. I can only think how much iPhone has bought to the Pocket PC world indirectly :)
War of the Browsers
iPhone, besides shaking the entire North American wireless industry, it's browser Safari has created a big war in the PocketPC and other handheld browsers. NetFront, Opera, Skyfire and all others are competing one on one and now Mozilla joins them. Do you think Mozilla will win? They overtook IE7 from the big guys.
