We reported about AT&T’ poor service and it's rating as the worst carrier in US couple of weeks ago. Now the fact is confirmed by its CEO and aims to improve it either by charging more money or offering incentives for those who use less of their service.

AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega has admitted himself that they are performing below their standards especially in San Francisco and New York, the major cities in the US where data usage is at it’s peek by high end mobile users (includes iPhone and PocketPc). Apart from poor data coverage, they also confirmed a national call drop rate of 1.32%

Yes, they plan to offer incentives to those using less data. Not a good idea as it may force users to move to a different company like T-Mobile who even made plans to bring 7.2 Mbps HSPA and other services.

Meanwhile, if you’re an existing customer of At&t, you can cut increasing costs by not using 3G when not needed. We even have a free software to switch between 2G and 3G automatically according to your demands and it also helps in reducing battery consumption on your Pocket PC.

Alternatively, you can use free softwares like WeFi to find free wireless hotspots around you so you don’t really need to depend on expensive data charges incurred by At&t and other carriers. You can also try making free calls with Google voice (a guide written in our sister site). 

Also, if you're with At&t right now, please give us your valuable feedback on this so others could know what really is going on. I'm sure there are a lot of Windows Mobile PocketPc users who are currently with At&t' subscription in the US. In my opinion, everything was fine until the iPhone came out and it must have been the iPhone that ruined us? Although, it did set the standards high for mobile computing so we get new features and stuffs made for Windows Mobile.
