ASUS has been given the royal treatment and would grace the red carpet to be a part of the Open Handset Alliance. We hear now that an Android device is on its way very, very soon.

 The premier part of next year is our best guess. ASUS is planning to dole this one out on its own brand and the first destination is (yep, you guessed it right!) Taiwan. Well, there’s not much information trickling in right now but we’re aware of the fact that the Ericsson Mobile Platform (EMP) would find a place, shutting out Qualcomm and Marvell.

We have seen the Android Operating System loaded on to an HTC Diamond 2 and at that time not many of the components were working fine but it was a good start and a proof of concept. But now the XDAndroid project has gone a lot further for the Windows Mobile devices by installing Android on the HTC Touch Pro.

Our friends at XDA Developers are again proving that nothing is impossible by unveiling a whole new Android style Taskbar for Windows Mobile 6.5.x PocketPC phones. The works are still going o the same for further developments on more color and button style options.

The Garmin – Asus Duo who released their GPS Navigation based phones, G60 and M20 quite some time back, have again teamed up for a new Windows Mobile 6.5.3 PocketPC phone, the Nuvifone M10.

While LG and HTC have already announced their plans on a Windows Mobile 7 Pocket PC even before its launch, Motorola confirmed that there won’t be anything from them at least this 2010.

T-Mobile USA is planning to introduce 3 hot mobiles into their account by the 1st quarter of 2010. 2 Windows Mobile phones and 1 Android.

We heard them coming and now, it has happened. Let’s wait for the same with Android pretty soon. Or who knows, Windows Mobile 7 might be a killer but by the time it launches, Android may get more powerful and mature, overtaking iPhone or whatever mobile OS exist.

We have heard about dual OS phones like the one from Exeda and Sunno S880 which was supposedly made to work on both Windows Mobile as well as Android but they never really came out to the markets. Here’s something much more promising from VMware.

Well, we don’t think so but many do, including Jason, editor at ZdNet. He recently made a illustration with evolution of smartphones.

We haven’t seen multi-touch capable capacitive screens dominate the mobile market yet but thanks to iPhone for introducing it to us. We just got it in Touch HD2 and its clear the future will be full of it. Lately, Asus packed a multi-touch screen onto Eee keyboard (link to our sister site) and it looks neat.
