Go the "Tilt" way

at&t tilt pocketpc It’s not just the features which make AT&T Tilt a Pocket PC device to clamor for. The innovative design gives the ideal combination of elegant style and top notch performance. Features such as Quadband, Triband, GPS, Bluetooth, USB and a host of other sensible applications packed in a compact design make it alluring to many. What’s more, its so incredibly easy to use! Read on to find out more about AT&T Tilt..

HTC codenamed it as “Kaiser” whereas Europe knows it as TyTN II, but wireless pioneers AT&T call it the “Tilt”. Why the unusual name, some might ask? The screen slides back to ensure that the viewing angle is more comfortable on the eyes. Hence, the name “Tilt” as it tilts to let you get the best view.

Delightfully multi-featured
Looks are so deceptive! For instance, one glance at Tilt’s small size, you would wonder how much could this small device hold? Surprisingly, Tilt has an exhaustive list of features which would leave you spell bound. Features such as Quad-band, Tri-band, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB makes then title Tilt as the “most connected device” perhaps in the entire world.

What the TyTN II failed to add is also not found in the Tilt. The Qualcomm MSM 7200 processor is super fast at 400 MHz and can also power VGA Video out and IrDA. But the lack of proper video drivers and "We don't care, we never mentioned - HTC" makes you get nothing more than bad video playback.

Accessories galore
The accessories are sensibly suited even for rugged use. To begin with, there’s an extra stylus for those who can’t help losing it every year. The mini USB cable and port would allow you to not just sync the device but also plug it to the bottom of the phone using the separate AC charger.

The Tilt is a little sophisticated especially with the battery cover, which is a bit hard to prise open. The screen protector (normally not found with many other devices) not only protects the screen from the ravages of the stylus but also from other objects which might “accidentally” rub on the screen.

Easy-to-use interface
Nothing new or different from default Windows Mobile Professional edition' way, however the HTC Home plug-in allows you to get acquainted with your device in practically no time! Operating this Windows Mobile powered device is a piece of cake - thanks to the scroll at the side which makes it possible to use it with one hand when the keyboard is closed. There are separate dedicated buttons for indispensible functions such as camera, internet explorer and messaging but the Tilt is devoid of other application launch buttons. The QWERTY keyboard is very flexible where a short stroke is all it takes to access the applications. The backlit is a very important feature to many as it ensures that you can see the keys even in low lit areas.

The built in GPS receiver with a trial version of TeleNav GPS software allows you to download maps over-the-air. The Tilt is equipped with the QuickGPS software which allows downloads of satellite location data from the internet. The Tilt comes loaded with uncountable software but most of them are either demo versions or are on a trial period. This means shelling out a few extra bucks to buy the full version of the respective software. The instant messenger program is compatible with AOL, Microsoft as well as Yahoo but AT&T has barred its use over Wi-Fi.

Sensible applications
The not-so-common Sprite Back up can be found here in its full version. The built in Adobe PDF file viewer and a ZIP file compressor allows multiple operations. These, along with Office Mobile applications allow you to work while on the move. The Tilt has not only the windows E-mail service but also has the additional Blackberry connect software.

Reliability is the buzz word here as unlike others, the Tilt won’t hang up on you while you are in the midst of that all-important phone call. Highly stable, the Tilt has a very strong Bluetooth headset which supports Voice Command. The size of RAM and ROM are far more than others as they have been doubled in size. The camera resolution is simply marvellous with auto focus and 10X digital zoom to capture your shot down to the minute details.

Armed with the lethal combination of simple and elegant style in small size along with sturdy and multiple features, the AT&T Tilt is the worthy successor to the HTC Hermes. To sum up, it is the ideal phone if you want to have nothing but the very best except for poor video quality and not to forget that this device is a bit heavy too along with a very poor battery life.
