HTC’s at last chucked its obsession for the touch screen toys and unveils the latest S740 Smartphone and yep, there’s no touch screen on this one.
 

HTC’s also thrown in a slide out QWERTY keyboard apart from the GSM/GPRS/EDGE. The HSDPA/WCDMA networks are pretty fine but the 3.2 megapixel camera is a little shaky on the auto-focus part.  The miniscule display is the 2.4 inch QVGA but then, VGA is a little too much to ask for. The Windows Mobile 6.1standard powers this tiny monster with an internal memory of 256MB flash and 256 MB RAM with microSD memory card facility. In addition, there’s the Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, Google Maps and RSS Hub to satisfy you. Smartphone lovers, here is a goody bag from HTC.

Well, just sometime ago we’d spoken about Sony Ericsson’s preference for Mobinnova. Looks like they're ending partnerships with HTC for the Xperia didn't stay up to their expectations.

The old controversy on lack of proper video drivers for HTC TyTn II extends to their latest pocket pc devices as well. We're talking about the much hyped Touch Diamond and Touch Pro.

To be excruciatingly honest, we think that HP deserves its marginal role. A few years ago, it could’ve easily owned the entire mobile universe. But, HP’s squandered it away without a thought and that too, after making a couple of attractive devices.

Take an old pocket pc, wrap it up in a new suit and voila to get a new one. O2 is well known for selling re-branded versions of HTC manufactured pocket pc devices. For example, they sell the HTC Touch Diamond as O2 Ignito and now the good old HTC Advantage is rebranded silently for business users as XDA Flint.

It is very unlikely to see HTC care for their customers. Lately, their superior device HTC Touch HD, which we even reviewed here has got some hot fixes.
