HTC loves the top position and has many ‘firsts’ to its credit, including the first ever WiMax device. Officially, it’s the HTC T8290 and codenamed as the HTC Quartz, this phone would arrive very, very soon on Yota, the Russian WiMax network.

There’s a 3.8” WVGA LCD screen with GSM and WiMax along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for the extra zing. We’ve already heard of the Qualcomm ESM 7206A at 528MHz processor, 512MB ROM, micro SD, microSDHC, SDIO support, IrDA, 5-megapixel camera and a built in GSensor. Well, looks like a super heavy bonanza!

So, HTC will not be the only makers of big windows mobile devices like the Shift and Athena. Samsung takes Windows Mobile to the next level by packing it into a WiMax enabled Internet tablet device, the Mondi! Looks like the Nokia 810 WiMax Internet tablet which apparantly failed in the end.

We haven’t heard of many WiMax enabled windows mobile device apart from the HTC Max 4G and now Samsung would love to be added into the bandwagon with the new SCH M830 pocketpc.
