Xda Argon to be released soon!

Wednesday, 27 June 2007

The Xda range of Windows Mobile pocket PC from O2 is a specialty! The Xda trend was started in 2002 and has led to a series of O2 devices (popular and enduring) being launched! Find out more!

o2-argon-pocketPCO2 not only keeps adding new models to its existing range but also keeps updating the original Xda devices (e.g. the Xda Aragon).  For those who prefer sleek and light models then this device is not for you! The Xda Aragon is a bulky 200g device which is 129.7 mm tall, 18.8 mm thick and 69.8 mm broad! The reason for its bulky structure is a screen of 3.5 inches which provides a wide viewing area likely to win over those who loathe reading micro texts from small screens! Ironically, the resolution is only 240 by 320 pixels! The silver outer is a relic from the past and differs from many other models which now sport black or grey Colours! The Xda Aragon has a mains power adapter with a USB cable to support PC connectivity and stereo handset from the same USB converter! The button arrangement is similar to the Xda IIi!

The Xda Aragon is powered by Windows Mobile 5 rather than the latest Windows Mobile 6 version! This may not be well received by professionals who will be unable to access the newer features of Windows Mobile 6 designed especially for them. In spite of the above set back, the Xda Aragon still boasts of a larger internal memory! You can now have 182MB of free storage, thanks to its 256MB of ROM and 128MB of RAM. And in case you need extra memory, you can always insert an SD card slot on the top end of the casing. A larger sized flash memory form factor now replaces the microSD and mini SD formats! Features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and infrared built in enables wireless communication! Driven by a 400MHz Samsung processor, this has a tri band GSM (rather than quad band) and does not support 3G or HSDPA which enables heavy data communications!). There is also a 2 mega pixel camera which has a self portrait mirror but is devoid of a flash! A number of useful software such as Microsoft’s Windows Mobile bunch, audio manager to organize sound files and playlists and comes attached with its very own media player. The MP3 trimmer enables you to edit sound files and convert them to ringtones and there’s also a Zip file manager and voice recording application thrown in!

The Xda Aragon can play music non-stop for over nine hours which is an evidence of it battery life. With four hours of talk and 200 hours of standby time makes this device a high performer! Though Xda Argon fulfils most of the Xda criteria and comes out looking good, it would be even better if it’s powered by Windows Mobile 6 and includes a 3G and GPS system!
