certified cab file that disables sign warning 1 Year, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
hi there.

it would be great if someone could create a certified cab to disables the sign warning so that user with hermes devices can use UTA for extended_rom installation, too.
as long as this cab file, wich contains just a simple registry string to disable the sign warning, is not certified i dont know how to let UTA work with exteneded_rom installation.

there is a way to create certified cab and exe files by using "visual studio 8" and the "TestCert_Privileged.pfx" certificate which is included. unfortunately im not familiar with "visual studio 8". so i hope someone here knows how to do this simple file.

i found out that you can also use the command
EXEC: Exteneded_ROMfile.reg to directly run applications.
so another workarround would be to install a certified application that lets you run registry files on your mobile device followed by the execution of the reg file itself.

Hi,

Welcome to our forums. The Test certificate cannot be deployed into commercial application as it doesn't work. Not sure if you've heard about it already, theres a cab called the Signed_security_Disabler which is apparantly a signed cab and when executed on Ext.ROM installation, will disable the security warning further. This works on all WM5 devices except Hermes.

The second method of using commands such as EXEC: Exteneded_ROMfile does work for UTA, check this thread but still on first execution of the software, a warning is shown up. Its not guaranteed the thief might click yes to it but maybe we could rename the file to something else that pleases the user so he clicks on it. Like Media Player or something of that kind.

Last resort, the Storage card method is also available for use. Still not sure if the first execution warning appears and thats why its marked Beta yet.

Regards,
Carty..
