Although there is a Default pocket pc explorer is a utility which comes along with the windows mobile operating system, but because of its limited ability users have been forced to look for some other similar application doing the task. Thus pocket pc users seems to have welcomed almost every pocket pc explorer release with a big heart :)

Very recently people at throttle workshop introduced their new skinny pocket pc explorer for pocket pc users named Throttle Explorer. Its the first release of their explorer project. As per the developer's page it boasts of the following features :

Multidisplay support (all screen resolutions!)
Smooth and light.
D-Pad support.
Really fast navigation
Copy, Paste and delete files.
Create folder New folder.
Order and grouping by Date, Extension and First Letter
Groups can be collapsed.
Fully skinable.
Scrolling on the right moves directly between categories
Fullscreen: Minimize using a top-down gesture.

We tried the release on one of our pocket pc TyTn II device, but the results were atrocious, as scrolling, display rendering was quite poor. But still we dont discourage any adventurous user to try it out & we are quite optimistic of a better navigable, fast, decent size explorer very soon from throttle developers.

Having a File Explorer is really essential to perform numerous actions on your Pocket PC that the default built-in File Explorer doesn’t offer. Its absurd to blame Microsoft for giving such a stupid File Explorer as they might have planned to give opportunities for third-party developers too.
