MiTAC Mio P550 Help! 4 Months ago Karma: 1
I'm in the middle of an emergency! I recently installed Tweaks2k2 on my Mio P550 and now my Pocket PC is frozen. I have tried:
  • Soft reset: froze while loading.

  • Soft reset in safe mode: froze after loading.

  • Hard reset: froze during load.

  • I have NOT done a Clean Boot yet.... I was hoping someone would have a suggestion so I don't have to do a Clean Boot and start all over! ANY suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

Clean boot and hard-reset are the same. It is done by pressing the Up button during a soft-reset until the Splash screen is shown.

If booting in safe-mode doesn't resolve the issue, hard-reset is the only option left. However, you may try these:
    1. Boot in safe/normal mode
    2. Connect Pocket PC to Desktop and see if Sync happens
    3. Open My Computer on Desktop and see if Pocket PC can be accessed
    4. Try to take backup of all your possible data then get into Windows/StartUp folder to see if Tweaks2k2 is there. If present, delete it and soft-reset.

If the above fails, then you have no choice but to hard-reset or clean boot which is the same.

    Regards,
    Carty..

Ok, I did the hard-reset and it worked. I was trying some registry tweaks (moving the My Documents folder to the Storage Card) and now I can't find files when I sync! They're not in the old folder or the new one! I restored the registry to before I did the edits and I still can't find the files that have moved. Any suggestions?

I don't suggest moving your My Documents folder or Ringtone folder to Storage card because the Storage card gets power a little later than the device and also after every wake-up from suspended state. Imagine a situation where you have the Ringtone folder moved to Storage card: The device goes to sleep mode after some idle time, you get a call waking up the device. When the device went into sleep mode, the power to SD card gets off. When the device wakes up, there is a delay until the SD gets power and if your ringtone or anything else that need immediate access is there, then the device thinks you have removed the SD and so switches back to default ringtone or in the case of My Documents, it may create duplicate entries in Registry.

Resolution for your above problem of the folder not being available for Sync: Try editing the registry again and soft-reset. After boot, check if the registry changes remain. Then connect for Sync.

Have large file on Storage card always and to keep your SD card synchronized, you can try our own software SD Sync.

    Regards,
    Carty..
