When my device starts up after crashing, i get the same error:

MissingMethodException
File or assembly name
'Microsoft.WindowsMoble.Status,

or one of its dependencies, was not
found.

I was getting several other errors too, until i installed MS .NET CF 3.5

found.
--------------------

and when i tried to run the installer again:

found.

I am running 3.5 build 921
After running the UTA installer after installing .NET, I still get

An unexpected error has occurred in
UTAv35.exe.
Select Quit and then restart this
program, or select Details for more information.

Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,

I have followed you through mail. It is mostly a problem with .net CF. You may need a reset and re-install.

Thanks for the emails, for anyone else who may have this same issue, I've found a post on MSDN that seems to match the description, if not the device, and I think I'm going to it.

that worked; turns out the custom rom that was on the device when i bought it wasn't as up to date as could've been.
