I am thinking of buying a HTC Universal, and for my U.S.A. Cingular 3G connection it wont be 3G for the Universal. Is it possible to use my 8525 as a wireless modem? I really dont want to use bluetooth for the modem but if that is the only way please enlighten me  ;D 

Do you want to use the Wireless modem to access internet on another device or a PC? You can do it to a PC and with EDGE GPRS you can get standard speeds on your PC. You can connect via USB itself for the modem link. 8525, AKA Hermes has an un-official WM6 upgrade which is powered with Internet sharing which makes the connection process much simpler!<br /><br />Regards,<br />Carty..

Universal is not a quad band device and so you cnt use 3G in your country. 8525 has quad band and so you can use 3G. You can share the high speed 3G internet on your 8525 with your PC but not on Universal. By the way, Universal is a pretty old device and 8525 is faaaar better, why do you wanna go for Universal?<br /><br />Regards,<br />Carty..

Well I want to try the Video calling feature Cingular just rolled out. I have a 8525 so no front camera for me. Someone in the Xda forum told me that the wizard had Modem link that supposedly supported PPC to PPc networking. If that were true then with some tweaking to the ROM maybe I could replace Internet Sharing with Modem Link from the Htc Wizard. This is a theory hoping that it would work for a different device (8525). Do you recall anyone networking two PPC's before? Any insight in this would be much appreciated.,
