Press and hold Call/Cut buttons(green/red) and soft-reset with the stylus. Keep holding the Call/Cut buttons till you get a message on screen saying "This will erase all your personal data" message on screen. Then press 'action' (enter button) to hard reset.

And to enter the bootloader: (Required sometimes while flashing ROMs)

Hold down the camera button and reset device with the stylus. Keep holding the camera button until you see 'tricolor' bootloader screen.

press the call [green]button + end call [red]button + the reset button = hard reset

alternatively,

the clear storage option in setting menu is equivalent to HARD RESET

hi im having a lil trouble here . i need to do the hard spl on my touch do you have instructions?

Hard SPL is different from Hard reset. I have posted an article on How to upgrade your ROM in this forum and it included steps to apply Hard SPL as well. Please refer.

can u please tell me how to hard reset my htc touch. I tried the method u have mentioned but instead of bootloader the phone seems to start normally(probably soft reset)

For entering into Bootloader, you must hold the camera button and make a soft-reset. You must keep holding the camera button even after the soft-reset, until you see the tri-color screen. Did you do that?
