Previously, on June 24, when HTC announced a major press conference, we thought the second generation Touch HD will be coming but HTC presented a whole new dimension with the Android powered Hero. Here comes the Touch HD 2 with Windows Mobile of course.

Later we heard some rumors that the Touch HD2 will sport android instead of Windows Mobile but HTC has finally decided to use the Touch branding to Windows Mobile alone and finally makes the HTC Leo officially as the Touch HD 2.

As spoken before, Touch HD2 will be the first Windows Mobile phone with Capacitive touch screen (multi-touch enabled). Even though Windows Mobile 6.5 won’t support multi touch yet, customized applications made by HTC such as the Album, Internet browser will all take advantage of the multi touch. Still, capacitive screens are great for finger based usage.

HTC has also worked on the Touch Flo 3D to make it function more like the HTC Sense UI in Android powered Hero. What’s new is the animated backgrounds to the Touch Flo screen and weather animations will play all over the screen on top of Touch Flo.

It clearly shows that Windows Mobile needs more power to function the HTC Sense like TouchFlo and that is why maybe HTC has included a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor in this Touch HD2 PocketPC. This is also for the huge screen of 4.3” size.

You can expect to see this device in stores soon but coming to US only next year leaving us unhappy.

We have heard it many times before from HTC that an official Windows Mobile 7 upgrade will be available for their latest Touch HD2 Pocket PC when Windows Mobile 7 is officially launched. Latest confirmation is from their Russia twitter account spotted by PocketNow.

Last week we reported about a defective camera in the new Touch HD 2 Pocket PC phones and now HTC has provided a fix for the same.

It has become HTC’ legacy to not include proper video drivers for all the slick Pocket PC phones they release, probably because of licensing royalty payments but this greatly affects Windows Mobile OS as it doesn’t allow graphical transitions like iPhone.
