lg incite pocketpc Quite a while back, we told you about LG Incite on AT&T. LG has made an excellent Pocket PC running on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with a lot of custom stuffs like HTC. The sleek device boasts of mirror-like reflexive exterior which adds a touch of glamour. Like the iPhone, this is the only pocket pc to pride on its proximity sensor. Heres a dissection to help you decide if the LG Incite is worthy of your pocket.

OOMPH FACTOR!
So, lets get down to business. Weve tinkered with the features and heres what weve come up with! Theres a 3.0 WQVGA screen with a pixel density of 155 ppi to give a high clarity output, but the Touch Diamond boasts of 285 ppi while the iPhone manages 164ppi. A quadband GSM device with triband UMTS to speak, also houses HSDPA and is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7201A processor at 528MHz. The memory is 256MB ROM and 128 MB RAM with microSD/HC expansion facility for extra capacity. Weve also spotted a GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth +EDR, USB 2.0 and FM radio. Theres an accelerometer for screen rotations and the proximity sensor, which turns off the screen of the phone while youre on a call and are holding the phone close to your face, is the first of its kind. Syncing and charging are done with the microUSB with a 3.5mm jack for audio. The 1300mAh battery powers the contraption with the 3.0 megapixel camera on the rear boasts of auto focus minus the flash. The rounded edges and smooth casing allows it to nestle snugly in your hands. The box comes with a battery, an external stylus, travel charger, sync cable, software and reading materials apart from the device itself. Well, disappointing that theres no case or screen projector in here.

Device Debate:

lg incite frontThough strikingly resembling the LG Shine, the reflexive coating covering the entire of its exterior makes the LG Incite feel like a mammoth mirror. The highlight here is, how small the screen seems in proportion to the rest of the device. The reason behind this is to get the low-end feel. But the screen quality is nothing to boast of and isnt all that great as we've seen WVGA on Touch HD and SE Experia.

The two dots on the front are the proximity sensors, which switch off the screen while youre on a call with the phone close to your face.  The right side has a speaker and next to it is the miniscule LED indicator light. As you advance to the bottom, the specs seem suspiciously similar to the Touch HD and other Windows Mobile devices where the D-Pad is absent. Theres just a Call Answer and Call End key with the microphone occupying the place of honor, right in the center. Just above the Call End key is the light sensor, which is all but hidden and needs quite an effort to be discovered.  Moving on to the left side, theres the impressive flush touch screen. The microUSB is under the plastic flap to enable syncing and charging along with a volume rocker and a soft reset hole.  The bottom is devoid of any elements.

lg incite left

lg incite backsideFlip on the other side and you immediately spot the dual action camera button which allows you to focus with a single touch! Just next to it is the standby/lock button and to the right of this is an external microSD slot. Going further on the right, the scroller stands out in its springy best which more than makes up for the lack of the D-pad. Bang on top, theres a 3.5mm headphone jack. Now, thats the topographical aspect of the LG Incite.

Perfection isnt really the highest concern for LG Incite. What else would explain the absence of an in-built stylus and the finger input not really up to the mark? If you do decide to use the external stylus, then youd have to do so by connecting it with the hook of the device. On the flip side, theres more of the mirror and a 3.0 megapixel camera embedded on the top.

The quality of build on the device is quite low and the camera lens is a bit tilted. Remove the back cover and the 1300mAh battery and SIM card slot comes into view. The Start Call and End keys take on a whitish glow in the dark.
