WARNING: Overclocking expires your device' warranty and can even damage your pocket pc. Improper usage may end up burning your pocketpc' processor, making your device as a brick! Follow this guide at your own risk!
First a few words on it: Pocket Hack Master (PHM) is
the best overclocking software compared to other softwares like Xscalar
CPU.. PHM is well complicated to use though. Successful usage can
overclock to double your current processor speed. I'm successful in it
and will share my experience below.
Note: I have tested it using my device O2 Xda II mini. WM2003se running on intel PXA 270 processor. So I presume it works in all WM2003se devices. If your device is WM5, please check out PHM' website if it supports your device. My pocket pc' initial speed was 416 Mhz and after overclocking, i got upto 975Mhz. So here comes the guide: First thing you should keep in mind is, heat is the only rival for processors. So before starting to overclock for the first time, ensure you have your device battery is charged over 70% and the device is of normal temperature. Start the software PHM - Pocket Hack Master, in your pocketpc, hope you have installed it :D. Now you see some icons and don't clearly understand what they do right? Ok, first you need to double tap on set device' speed. You will then see a huge list of numbers and please ignore them! Tap and hold in the list are to get a pop-up menu and choose to Add manual speed. Here comes the tricky thing. You will see various options to choose here. I suggest you to set A=0, LCD=0, Turbo=ON, Half-turbo=Off and Fast bus=Off. This settings should be common for all speeds which you will vary with L & N values. Now set L to 6 and A to a number around 9 or 10 that shows a processor' speed close to your device' original speed. Now add this spped and you will be back to that same list again. Here, your manual speed will be added to the end & scroll down to it, and select it for speed test. The software will now overclock your processor and check if it is capable of handling stress at that speed and benchmarks it. If you don't see the benchmarking screen or if the stress process hangs for over a minute, its your unlucky fate that you cannot overclock your device. Maybe you can further give a try with lower speeds by reducing N values. So if your manual speed with L=6 has been tested, now increase L to 7 and probably you want to leave the N value same or one reduced, so you get the processor' speed almost close to the tested speed. All other values like A,LCD,turbo should be set common as mentioned before. Now add this speed and test it. Benchmarking success? Great, now you will see the smiley icon next to the speed, in green colour, meaning your processor is capable of handling that speed. Tap and hold on that speed and set it to favorites. So now you found the best overclocked speed your processor could handle. Now get back to PHM' main menu where you see six icons. Now double tap on scale configuration and choose the best overclocking values. Choose upto 6 or 7 best speeds and in the bottom you will find a drop-down box for scaling method. Choose PHM simple. And that's it! You're done! Minimize the software and you will find your device working at amazing speeds! Next time you just need to open PHM and minimize it. And as mentioned before, heat is the only rival to processors, don't use the software when your device is hot. please close the program before putting your device to charge! My personal experience: Final note: Even two devices running on same processors,
same speeds & from same manufacture will not be overclocked to same
high speeds. I have tested two O2 XdaII mini and one gave 975 Mhz while
the other gave only 878 Mhz! So lets see how much luck youve got!
