Finally, the good old HTC Magician, a.k.a O2 mini and various other brand names, get a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM Upgrade. Of course not from HTC but from an Xda-Member!

Wow, Magician was such a good device. It has a 400 Mhz Intel processor which never comes these days. Intel processors are well known for stability but a little high on consuming battery and expensive too. That is why probably HTC and other manufacturers use Qualcomm processors lately. But Intel had it’s standards really high! During our tests few years back, we could over clock it to a whopping 1Ghz speed! Since then we could never do the same in any other Pocket PC

The only drawback the HTC Magician or the O2 mini had was the Windows Mobile edition (2003se) and when Windows Mobile 5 came over, HTC did not want to release upgrades as usual forcing us to buy the newer phones for newer Windows Mobiles

Although Windows Mobile 5 was ripped off by xda-dev cookers from the newer phones and made them available for all other previous models, they couldn’t do it for HTC Magician alone.

Finally, a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM has been cooked by a same xda-member Cotulla and it seems to be working great apart from very few bugs. People also notice a lot of increase in performance.

So, if you still have one of this old baby in your closet, it’s time you give life to it again!
