Few days back, we remember a member requesting how to make default Internet Explorer in your Pocket PC to be recognized as IE6. Since we were moving the servers, we were not able to reply that time. Now we are here with an answer. A simple registry edit

Code:

1) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent 2) Change the default value to "Mozilla/4.0" 3) Change the "Version" value to "MSIE 6.0" 4) Change the "Platform" value to "Windows NT 5.0" 5) Soft-reset.

This will solve the issue of prompting older version of Internet Explorer when browsing some new sites. Hope this helps. Did it?

Yeah this solved the problem from o2 mini original PIE that some how can't open some website... like google, yahoo<br />^^

Is this necessary for WM5 users?

This depends upon the websites you may visit. Actually some websites will recognize PIE as IE4.0 and say that your browser is too old. In those cases this hack fools the website and so it lets you visit the site.<br /><br />But one drawback is that, websites optimized for PDA wont recognize your browser. For example, when you visit google.com, in browsers without the hack, you will automatically be redirected to google.com/pda which is optimized for PDA. So it depends that who may need the hack!..<br /><br />I wont use this because I use Live mail and so only with PIE, even when i type hotmail.com, it takes me to Live Mail otherwise i need to wait a long for the full website of hotmail to load and thats slow on GPRS connections.<br /><br />Regards,<br />Carty..
