I can say that this ROM was the most awaited ROM. Main reason is that
the user-base of this device is not high due to the heavy price-tag of
this device and it looks more of a UMPC rather than a WM PocketPC.
Hence, less hackers, less ROM cookers. AP - Athena Project Team is the
only team to release the custom cooked ROMs for this device and their
previous ROM AP3 was quite a big-hit.
SIP Keyboard issues:
TouchPal keyboard from teksoft is nice and inclded for free in this ROM
too after the special permissions from the authors. The keyboard gives
huge keys occupying the full width of the screen even in 128 dpi but it
was damn slow and not friendly when the gestures to capitalize letters
dont work. So I better stick to the default smaller stock keyboard SIP. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409] "Layout Text"="eT9 IME" "Ime File"="\\windows\\eT9ime.dll" to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409] "Layout Text"="COMP IME" "Ime File"="compime.dll" The Miscelaneous issues: After every boot, I'm popped up with a notification to setup my connection and since my network settigns are not there in the database, there is no way to get rid of this prompt. Worst thing is that when I hide the notification it ends in Settings > Connections page always. Add-ons: There are some good add-ons included. Some within the ROM and some outside as seperate cabs. Small tools like Registry editor, PPC PIM Backup and sorts always help sometime. Though there is a USB Mass storage application, it doesn't recognize your Micro-drive at the moment. There is a partial fix for this if you're ready to temporarily loose Storage card. One thing I love in this ROM is the auto switch to landscape/portrait mode when you physically rotate the device. Yes, its an inspiration from iPhone. Well, that's about it.. I hope to have covered everything. Check out our Expert's Help section for thoughts/suggestions. |
