Yesterday in the mobile world congress 2009, HTC held their press conference and here we have a small round up of the entire show that was focused completely on windows mobile.
The Old Stuff
HTC began by showing off their success in 2008 when they first introduced TouchFLO 3D which seriously did a revolution in Windows Mobile OS. The so far, powerful, yet bland mobile operating system from Microsoft had got a face lift by HTC and along with their intelligent marketing campaigns, HTC managed to sell over million pocketpc phones. They emphasized on designing windows mobile pocket pc phones based on how people want to use their phones.
New Stuff
After telling us what we already knew or witnessed in 2008, HTC introduced two new devices: Touch Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2 along with some new technology called push internet.
Microsoft and HTC
At this point, Andy Lees who serves as the senior vice president of Microsoft's Mobile Communication Business joined HTC on stage. He confronted how much impressed is Microsoft on their work during 2008 and continue to support them together. He congratulated HTC on behalf of Microsoft for their innovations in 2008.
Windows Mobile 6.5
Till now, no news or information about Windows Mobile 6.5 but HTC confirms that the two new handsets, the Touch Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2 will be upgradable to Windows Mobile 6.5 and that means these new windows mobile phones will still have 6.1 on them. Not a big issue as 6.5 will just be a minor improvement from Microsoft.
Android and HTC
No news on Android phones from HTC and following some questions, HTC answered that Android is just a part of HTC' portfolio and they will have future products with Android, hence today' event is fully focused on Windows Mobile.
Other Stuffs
HTC also mentioned their partnership with qualcomm, and promised that a quite pioneering SnapDragon based windows mobile phone is coming and there ended the conference.
