Lately the second generation Touch HD a.k.a. HTC Leo has captured our attention a lot. The good old Touch HD seems to have some lockup issues right now but HTC is not the one to be complained.

The lockup issue that many people face right now is not being able to wake the PocketPc from sleep mode and it happens only with those who have flashed un-official custom cooked ROMs, especially the ones with the new Manila 3D interface borrowed or ripped from the newer Touch HD2.

Usually the lockup happens within 24 hours of flashing and it gets more frequent as time goes by. Typically when you get caught in this situation, the lockup will sometime light up the PocketPc but it remains unresponsive for a while and the only way to get back working is to do a soft-reset if you’re fortunate enough. Else hard reset may be the only option for some.

In worst cases, the lockup will not resolve even after a hard reset making you not being able to even flash a new ROM unless you get deep into hacking the PocketPc with Mtty tools. During the lockup state of the Touch HD, when people call you, the PocketPc may just light up but not ring while the other party hears your dialer tune as if you were going to pick up.

If you haven’t faced any such issues yet, beware on flashing custom ROMs as it will also expire your PocketPc’ warranty status.

Last week we reported about a defective camera in the new Touch HD 2 Pocket PC phones and now HTC has provided a fix for the same.

It has become HTC’ legacy to not include proper video drivers for all the slick Pocket PC phones they release, probably because of licensing royalty payments but this greatly affects Windows Mobile OS as it doesn’t allow graphical transitions like iPhone.

The best Pocket PC to date is now facing some issues with a defective camera. Before HTC brings this to US markets, hope the camera gets a fix.

Windows Mobile does not support multi touch as of now, out of the box but manufacturers like HTC have already made it available with their own brewed APIs. Although they didn’t make the API available for public yet, hackers have found a way.

HTC Touch HD 2 is now available and according to a trusted source, the HTC Touch HD2 PocketPC will get an official Windows Mobile 7 upgrade once it’s released.

Sure we have seen a lot of third party calculator applications that have better looks and could perform more intensive scientific calculations. But for those who just need the basic calculating functionalities but with a better UI or looks, HTC has made the customizations for ya.

The long awaited PocketPC HTC Touch HD2 is finally available on sale in Europe and a few Asian countries. People in the US might have to wait a little more.
