Verizon network will soon be lauching the Samsung Omnia II Windows Mobile phone. But what is disappointing is, it still runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 even after 6.5 was released about a week ago.

Wazzup with you Verizon? After all the new TV commercials for the Windows Mobile 6.5 on HTC Imagio, why do you still plan to release a phone with older version of Windows Mobile? Yes, we do agree that the new Windows Mobile 6.5 doesn’t offer any breath taking features, but still it’s a new kid on the block.

This is actually found out by engadget when they recently had a chance to play with this phone. Maybe Verizon will offer upgrades to Windows Mobile 6.5 when Omnia 2 finally comes on sale. Bottom line is, it is not Verizon to be complained, the manufacturer, Samsung should be responsible for the updates.

Pharos, usually known for its manufacturing of GPS related devices that include PDA’s, have now come up with a new high-end ruggedized PDA which will run Windows Mobile 6.5 – Pharos 565.

We enjoyed Skype on our Pocket PC phones all this while but an official confirmation comes to our disappointment, that the older version will no longer be downloadable or supported from their website.

All are still behind the Windows Phone 7 Series which has been unveiled during the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona and Microsoft decided to make its older Windows Mobile versions in other brand names – Windows Phone Starter Edition and Windows Phone Classic.

As we all know Windows Phone 7 Series has been officially announced and will be in the stores by the Q3 of 2010. Before the shipping of that Zune Phone, some clones for the WM7 are getting dressed up behind the screens.
