Windows Mobile 7 is currently being developed by Microsoft, and is the first revolutionary change to its mobile device operating system. Recently, a document unveils about the technical details, touch and gesture plans for Mobile 7. The document states Windows Mobile 7 as the next generation Operating system pertaining to Windows phones as it includes some enhanced features such as support for .Net compact framework 3.7, email, VOIP, SQL server compact edition, advanced security functionality, and lots more over its previous version: Windows Mobile 6.

Below are some important technical points which are very much essential for developers and end-users as well.

• Impressive differences in Internet Explorer: The interface is simpler and much nicer, with just an address bar and go button, the web page is a desktop version, and the browser has tabbed browsing, used by gesturing through a series of graphical thumbnails along with back and forward actions.
• Playing music or a slides show is going to be awesome experience. Windows Mobile 7 supports several audio formats such as AVI Video, AU Audio, MIDI Audio, Wave Audio, ASF Video and Audio, SND Audio, MP3 and WMA.  Getting previous or next song or photo would be pretty easy just by shaking the phone left or right to go to the, and shaking the phone in order to shuffle it.

• Complete revision of the menu system is done.
• SmartSearch, a system wide search capability has been enabled.
• Stock file viewers has been included in Windows Mobile 7, giving an option to read Microsoft office and PDF files.
• Widgets, the lightweight Rich Internet Applications that run on Windows phones are supported by Windows Mobile 7.
• Newly evolved calculator applications to process calculations and convert currency amounts in Windows Mobile 7. Tip calculator, to calculate tip amounts could be enabled or disabled using the registry keys.
• Major up gradation features are not only concentrated on the OS but also on Office Mobile to support charts, advanced round trip, SharePoint, etc.
• The features of Association Engine, a multimedia installation that explores the space of language and exposes connections between words by performing a series of improvisational games are highly extended. Calling your contact or viewing call history has become simpler. You can just say "Call this contact" in code and it will just do the right thing.
• Extensive improvisation of Camera APIs is in Windows Mobile 7. You can now experience a wide variety with overlays, video capture, EXIF, etc.
• In Windows Mobile 7, Pocket Outlook Object Model (POOM) supports multiple folders and also handles note and mail items.

The Engadget show yesterday totally surprised everyone, with Aaron Woodman from Microsoft, showed off the World’s ever first Windows Phone 7 Series Device from one of their partners LG.
