If WizSplash method had failed to change the Splash screen in Wizard, ill show you a different method but it might be a little longer process than the former. WizSplash and the following method has been tested to work on Wizards but not on Hermes(not tested).

Tools Needed (
Download from here)
1. typho5
2. nb2nbf_tornado
3. nb_image_converter_859_418_826.exe
4. WinHex (or your favorite hex editor, but my tutorial uses winhex)
5. RUU NOID (I have included one in the zip file at the end of this post)
6. TyphoonNbfTool_04 (optional, it will allow you to double check your splash nbf before flashing)

Lets get started

First thing you need is a known to be good nk.nbf (perferably extracted from the same RUU that you flashed your device from.)

Now run typho5.exe -x nk.nbf
It should extract some files for you.
80040000-OS.nb
96000000-GSM.nb
9b000000-Extension.nb
90000000-IPL.nb
91000000-SPL.nb
*92000000-Splash.nb (This is the one we need)
9d000000-HTC.nb

You can delete the others. We just need 92000000-Splash.nb

At this point please take a moment to gather some creative spirit, and may grab a soda.

Now you need the image you want to be your splash screen (make it something REALLY cool, or this is all for nothing

).
BMP
240w x 320h
My horizontal and vertical resolution is 96dpi (don't know if it matters)
Bit Depth: 24

Once you have you BMP, put it in the same folder with nb_image_converter_859_418_826.exe and run nb_image_converter_859_418_826.exe.
Now click Load... and select your BMP and click open. Then click Save.nb and save with a name you will remember (in the same folder, somin like splash.nb)

Now in that folder you should have 92000000-Splash.nb & splash.nb (amongst others)
Take note of the file sizes;
92000000-Splash.nb = 192KB (196,608 bytes) <-actual size
splash.nb = 150KB (153,600 bytes)

Lets open up winhex and open up those 2 files.
This is where you need that attention to detail.
You should be looking at something like this:

In the upper left hand corner you can see the file size of splash.nb 153,600 bytes, this will change during this process.
However the files size of 92000000-Splash.nb (196,608 bytes) SHOULD NOT CHANGE from now, till we are done! If it does, you made an oops.

Now lets get to it. Look at 92000000-Splash.nb and copy this portion of the file, from 00000000 to 0000001D using Edit > Copy Block > Normally (just ctrl+c)

Now go to splash.nb, you will notice that this file does not have the smart phone sinature, thus all this work =)
Put your cursor at offset 00000000 and got to Edit > Clipboard Data > Paste (or ctrl+v)
You will then get this warning;

Click Ok, and now note the files size. It should be 153,630 bytes if its not, close these files without saving and start again.

Now go to Edit > Select All (ctrl+a) and then Edit > Copy Block > Normally (ctrl+c)

Lets go back to 92000000-Splash.nb
Now put your cursor at offset 00000000 then (THIS IS IMPORTANT) go to Edit > Clipboard Data > Write (ctrl+b)
You should then get this warning;

click OK and note the files size. It should still be 196,608 bytes. If it is not close both files without saving and start again.

If all is well, then save 92000000-Splash.nb. You can save splash.nb if you like, but you really don't need it from here on in.
Close winhex.

Open nb2nbf_tornado.exe

Here's what you need to enter;

Model ID: WIZARD
Language: WWE
The "OEM Version" and Operator Version is optional (AFAIK)
Make sure CID is blank.
Check File #1 and select your 92000000-Splash.nb you just made.
Start Address should be 92000000 and Image name should be Splash Screen (its in the drop down list, and if you select it in the drop down list it should set the start address to 92000000 for you =) )
Length should once again be 196608.
Your output file should be named nk.nbf

Now click Translate
You should get a message that it was successful and also a nb2nbf Status Report. If you get any type of error, close nb2nbf, reopen it and do it again, double check all settings.

your nk.nbf should be 193 KB (197,632 bytes)

To check that all is well, open up TyphoonNbfTool_04.exe
Go to File > Open and select the nk.nbf you created and click open.
Now in the bottom half of the window right click "Splash Screen" and click extract image. You can name it whatever you want (TESTsplash.bmp).
Now go open that BMP, does it look exactly like the image you made? Cause it should.

Now take the RUU_SPLASH.zip from the SplashScreenStuff.zip (its at the top of this post) file, open it up, and paste the nk.nbf into it.
Now change the name of RUU_SPLASH.zip to RUU_SPLASH.exe
Run the EXE and the rest should look familiar.

Credit: To my partner site Moski.biz

Regards,
Carty..

Touch Browser for Pocket PC
Opera mini got a hack recently so it can be launched directly from messaging and other applications. NetFront announced their Concept version available for public (over here). Opera is still fixing up their 8.65 Beta version. Now Makayama (never heard about them before) is entering the browser wars, highlighting Touch based page scroll and huge keyboard. Only commercial, no trial version is available at the moment and we haven't tested on our hands yet. But they have a working video published on their site. If you're not satisfied with NetFront (our best choice) and don't mind dishing out 15 bucks, go ahead. I can only think how much iPhone has bought to the Pocket PC world indirectly :)
Opera mini as Default browser
It’s a major pain in the back having to rely on Internet Explorer
(Opera Mobile, Netfront etc.) for displaying the given Web page -
instead of the much faster / cheaper / prettier Opera Mini. So far, it was impossible to quickly invoke Opera Mini from any mailer
applications on your Pocket PC just by just clicking on the web-links since it requires the Java engine to be started first.
War of the Browsers
iPhone, besides shaking the entire North American wireless industry, it's browser Safari has created a big war in the PocketPC and other handheld browsers. NetFront, Opera, Skyfire and all others are competing one on one and now Mozilla joins them. Do you think Mozilla will win? They overtook IE7 from the big guys. Overtaking opera and netfront might be an easy task for them. Lets see who wins! Currently there is no preview version of Firefox for Mobiles but just in case if you weren't using it on your PC,
